Ulla GUSTAFSSON (soprano), Sweden

Ulla Gustafsson graduated from the Goetheborg Conservatory and the Theatre and Opera School in Goetheborg where she studied under Prof. Inga-Lill Linden. Took master-classes with Birgit Nielsson and was awarded scholarships by the Swedish Music Academy, the Swedish Artists’ Foundation and by Birgit Nielsson herself. She made her debut in Bremerhaven, Germany, as Senta in Wagner’s „Fliegender Hollaender“ under the direction of Harry Kupfer. After that she was invited by Daniel Barenboim to the Berlin State Opera for the part of Sieglinde in „Die Walkuere“.

Among her roles are Donna Anna, Agathe, Chrysothemis, Poppea, Eva, Fidelio and Gutrune. In 1994, she was invited by Claudio Abbado to perform with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra in a New Year Concert. She has also performed at the Salzburg Easter Festival, the Spoleto Festival. Her repertoire includes songs by Sibelius, Rangström, Pettersson, Stenhammer, Peterson-Berger, Grieg, Brahms, Wagner, Schönberg and Strauss.
