ALBA BRASS Quintet

Аlba Brass is an established Brass Quintet based in Glasgow. The five members met whilst studying at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow. The group Alba Brass has a busy recital schedule that includes numerous performances and master-classes. In the 2006/07 season they were ensemble in residence for the Young Composer of Dyfed competition in Wales.

Bede Williams is one of the founding members of the quintet. He was born in New Zealand. In the year 2003 he moved to Glasgow where he performed with the BBC SSO, the RSNO and all of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (RSAMD) ensembles. He received a lot of prizes.

Caroline Hails is in her postgraduate year at the Academy. She performs regularly with the Orchestra of Scottish Opera, and BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.

Craig MacDonald now studies at the RSAMD. As a freelance musician Craig has worked with various orchestras including the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.

Davur Juul Magnussen performed with various orchestras. He tries to participate in as many jazz, pop and rock projects as possible. Davur has become a prize winner of several competitions in Denmark.

After completing his BMus at the University of Ulster, Jonathan Gawn moved to Glasgow in 2003 for post-graduate study at the RSAMD. Since moving to Scotland he has enjoyed success in many competitions and scholarships.

Jonathan has worked with various orchestras including the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.
