Ian KROUSE (composition)

He was recently hailed as “one of the most communicative and intriguing young composers on the music scene today” (Gramophone). His music has been characterized as “absorbing, brutal, beautiful, and harsh, all at the same time” (Soundboard), In recent seasons Professor Krouse’s works have been performed by famous orchestras: the Chicago Symphony Orchestra performances of his Concerto for Bass Clarinet were broadcast over one thousand times in 1995 over Public Radio International.

Author of numerous pieces, recipient of many awards and prizes at composers competitions. Fifteen compositions created by Krouse were recorded by Koch, Delos, Naxos, RCM, Lisaddell, GSP and GHA labels.

At present Ian Krouse is a Professor of Music at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he served as Chair for the Music Department until 2007.
