St. Petersburg Conservatoire STUDENTS CHOIR

Тhe St. Petersburg Conservatoire Students Coir was founded in 1925.

During the nearly eighty years of its history, the repertoire of the choir covered all genres of Western choral classics, sacred and secular Russian music, and many works by contemporary composers.

The coir has been led by such esteemed conductors as A. Yegorov, N. Mikhailov, I. Poltavtsev, A. Mikhailov and V. Nesterov.

Since 1982 Professor of the St. Petersburg Conservatoire Valery Uspensky has served as the Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the choir. The coir has performed with many notable orchestras, such as the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the St. Petersburg State Orchestra, and the Youth Symphony Orchestra and has worked with such renowned conductors as Yuri Temirkanov, Claudio Abbado, Alexander Dmitriev, Vladimir Fedoseev, and Ravil Martynov.

The Students Choir of the Conservatoire has performed throughout Russia, as well as in St. Petersburg, and has taken part in many national and international choral festivals and competitions.
