THE А. GLAZUNOV PETROZAVODSK STATE CONSERVATOIRE

The А. Glazunov Petrozavodsk State Conservatoire was founded in 1967 as the Petrozavodsk Branch of the Leningrad Conservatoire. The Petrozavodsk Branch was reformed in the Petrozavodsk State Conservatoire. In October 2003 the Conservatoire was renamed in honor of A. Glazunov.

Nowadays scientific and creative potential of the Petrozavodsk Conservatoire can be compared with that of leading art schools. Its faculty boasts outstanding specialists with essential scientific and creative achievements. Apart from its educational and scientific objectives, the Conservatoire is an active concert organization. Student symphony orchestra, chamber orchestra, academic chorus are among its performing groups.

The Petrozavodsk Conservatoire also trains young musician enabling them to enter academies and universities. The Conservatoire provides programs and training methods for seven music colleges located in the North-West of Russia: in Murmansk, Arkhangelsk, Vologda, Cherepovets, Vorkuta, Syktyvkar and Petrozavodsk.

The Petrozavodsk Conservatoire co-operates with various foreign universities — in Finland, Norway, Germany, Sweden and the USA.
